Ryu is a WaniKani companion app for iOS. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

Ryu collects and stores the following data locally on your device only:

• WaniKani API key — stored in the iOS Keychain to authenticate requests to the WaniKani API.
• WaniKani account data — your username, level, subscription status, and SRS assignment progress, fetched from the WaniKani API and cached in a local database.
• Study activity — daily lesson and review counts, accuracy, and streak. This data is computed locally and never transmitted anywhere.

Third-Party Services

Ryu communicates exclusively with the WaniKani API (api.wanikani.com) using your API key. No data is sent to any other third party. Ryu does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting services.

Data Sharing

Ryu does not sell, share, or transmit your personal data to any party other than WaniKani as required to provide the app's core functionality.

Data Deletion

You can delete all locally stored data at any time by signing out from the Settings screen within the app, or by deleting the app from your device.

No Account Creation

Ryu does not create or manage user accounts. Authentication is handled entirely through your existing WaniKani account via your API key. Ryu has no access to your WaniKani password.

Children's Privacy

Ryu is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
